She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Harrison Lewis and Viola Mae Barnett Lewis; her former husband Joel F. Dowling, Jr.; her stepdaughter Gwenda Welch Karnazes; her stepgranddaughter Wendy Harris Green; and her siblings, Don Lewis, Dorothy Burgess and Mildred Upton.
She is survived by: her daughters, Martha Frances Dowling (Jim Riemen) of Fairhope, AL and Susan Clare Dowling (Jim Ness) of Rock Hill; her brother Ray Keith Lewis (Linda) of Rock Hill; her grandchildren, Max Rieman (Jillian) of New Orleans, Van Rieman (Kaitlynne), Erik Ness (Rachel) of Rock Hill and April Birdsong (Anthony Birdsong) of Charlotte, NC; and her stepgrandchildren, Ben Harris (Susan), Jason Poag (Brandy), Laura Poag, Susan Randall (Will Randall), David Poag (Jennifer), George Karnazes and Christopher Karnazes. She is also survived by six great grandchildren.
