It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Carl Stanley Bates (Rock Hill, South Carolina), who passed away at the age of 92, on September 28, 2023. He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Stanley and Marie MacKnight Bates; and his siblings, Helen Bates Zorick, Eva Bates Blois and John Simmons Bates.

He is survived by: his wife Madge Lewis Bates; his children, Hugh Bates (Daphne) and Rebecca Jones (Stephen); his grandchildren, Josh Bates, Vivian Rebh (Chris), Rebecca Jones, Daniel Jones, Bates Jones and Ruthie Jones; and his brother-in-law John Blois. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Greenbrier Church Cemetery Fund- 2086 Rion Road, Winnsboro, SC 29180; Eccles United Methodist Church in Huger, SC or St. John's United Methodist Church, Rock Hill, SC.
