He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Polk and Vera Mae O'steen Polk; his son Troy Danner; and his brothers, Jimmy Danner and Ronald Polk.

He is survived by: his wife Gail; his children, Christine Kilik (John) of Tacoma, WA, Melodie Watson (Daniel) of Simpsonville and Johnny David Tyler, Jr. of Lugoff; his grandchildren, Madeline McClain (Caleb) of Lexington and Jacob Watson (Murielly) of Columbia; his great grandchild William Daniel McClain; his siblings, Mosey Polk (Geralene) of Trenton, FL and Dorothy Nimmons of Lady Lake, FL.; and his pet KiWi (family: Gameria, Archie, Lilly, Peebles, Chloe).

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be donated to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
