He was predeceased by: his father Edwin Reid Whitfield. He is survived by: his mother Zora Fields Whitfield of Charlotte, NC; his wife Sharon P. Whitfield of Ridgeway, SC; his son Matthew Whitfield (Jennifer) of Shelby, NC; and his sisters, Deborah McRorie (Robert "Bob") of Charlotte and Gale Sullivan of Waxhaw.
