He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlisle Carter and Jannie Carter; his daughter Patricia Ann Carter Taylor; and his siblings, Myer Carter (Possum), Robert Carter, Donnie Michael Carter and Betty Mae Shieder.
He is survived by: his wife Anna Margaret Clayton Carter of Ridgeville; his children, Carlisle Summers Carter, Jr. (Barbara) of Ridgeville, William Michael Carter (Rebecca) of Ridgeville, John Wayland Carter (Pamela) of Ridgeville, Bryan Clayton Carter of Ridgeville, Laverne Carter Smith (Banks) of Charleston and Donna Faye Carter Spayth (Fred) of Summerville; his siblings, Lloyd Carter (Brenda) of Ridgeville, Billy Carter (Ida) of Ridgeville, Mary Ann Carter, Edith Wiggins of Ridgeville, Peggy Knight (Bud) of Summerville and Millie Lawson of Summerville; his grandchildren, Joshua, Sidney (Kate), Clayton, Crystal (Matt), Amy (Jordan), LeAnn (Lu), Blaise (Ashley), Chelsea, Anna Marie (Jay), Nicole, Will, Carla (Charles), Megan (Donathan), Ashley (Austin), Justin and Trey; and his great grandchildren, Lilly, Haley, Rileigh, Waylon, Riley, Rory, Olivia, Natalee, Dakota, Cody, Dallas, Carolina, Storm, Bella, Daisy, Landon, Dexter, Sadie Faye, Addison and Adrian.
