He was predeceased by: his parents, James Burnside and Kathleen Burnside; and his brothers, Jimmie, Alfred, Jack and Edward Burnside.
He is survived by: his wife Sara P. Burnside; and his children, Debra B. Rentz (Ricky), Robert H. Burnside, Jr. (Linda) and Ashley B. Brantley (Ben). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
