He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Newton Shugart, Sr. and Lilly Mae Elkins Shugart; his son Malcom Dean Shugart; and his siblings, Charlie Alexander Shugart, Carlton "Pete" Cordell Shugart, Oscar Marvin Shugart and Alma "Donnie" Shugart Good.
He is survived by: his wife Connie Blackwell Shugart; his children, Mickey Clements (John), Marilyn Steele (David), Myra Rinehart, Cindy Guy, Michele Shugart and Michael Shugart; and his sisters, Faye Faile (Paul) and Shelby Jean Moore. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
