He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Abe Dennis, Sr. and Sarah Alston Dennis; his wife Earnestine Rembert Dennis; his daughter Linda Sabrina Dennis; his siblings, Ella Bell Watson, Sarah Rollins, Naomi Sanders, Eva Clark, Jerry Wilson and Abe Dennis, Jr.; his children, Janie McGainey (Marion), Sherry Glasscho, Andrea Thomas, Mary Alexander (Larry), Eugene (Andrea), Willie Jr. and Bryant Dennis (Lakeshia); his siblings, Ruth Deas (Whitt), Mamie Stephens and James Wilson, Jr.; his siblings-in-law, Aleen Wilson, Dorothy Owens (Willie), Ervin Richardson, Allen Watson and James Clark; his goddaughters, Deidre Gathers Robinson and Renee Robinson; and his stepdaughters, Charlotte Smith and Bridget Smith-Brumfield.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home.
