He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Windson Witherspoon and Missionary Lela Witherspoon; and his siblings, Windson Witherspoon, James Witherspoon, John Witherspoon and Carrie Witherspoon-Jenkins.
He is survived by: his daughter Ersula Witherspoon; his niece Dorothy Lawson; and his nephew Charles Boykin.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, persons may make contributions to Morris College in Dr. Witherspoon's memory.
