He was predeceased by: his brother Daniel Bishop; and his uncle Timothy D. Parker. He is survived by: his wife Shyra Walters Bishop; his daughters, Glenda Waggoner (Bryan), Robin Kizer (Terry) and Cynthia Goodman (Sammie); his grandchildren, Stanley Sweatman (Michelle), Chad Sweatman, Samantha Goodman Scott (Caleb) and Trevor Kizer; his stepgrandchildren, Harley and Kenly Waggoner; his great grandchildren, Kizer Sweatman and McKenna Scott; his brother Michael Bishop (Kitty); his siblings-in-law, Boone Walters and Dill McAlhany; and also, Keith Sweatman and Matthew Scott.
