She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Y. Postell and Nina Strickland Postell; and her siblings, Tommy, Clyde, Bert, Winston, Gerald, Will, Bill and Eddie Postell.

She is survived by: her husband Gerald K. Platt, Sr. of Ravenel, SC; her children, Gerald Platt, Jr. and Valerie Durr (Robbie); her grandson Timothy Durr; and her siblings, Barbara Crosby and David Postell (Debbie).
