She was predeceased by: her husband Oscar Wheeler Bowers; her parents, Thomas Claude Sligh, Sr. and Elizabeth Waters Sligh; her children, Mark Bowers and Amy Bowers; and her siblings, Margaret S. Shealy, Audrey S. Zobel Agnew, Frank "Buddy" Sligh, Charles Edward Sligh, John Robert "Bobby" Sligh, Ray Sligh, Thomas Claude Sligh, Jr. and Lewis F. Sligh.
She is survived by: her sons, Douglas A. Bowers (Cleo) of Prosperity and George D. Bowers (Tina) of Prosperity; and her daughter-in-law Karen Bowers of Prosperity. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
