He was predeceased by: his mother Melinda Williams; and his sisters, Paulette Baker, Elease Caldwell, Mattie Glasgow, Josephine Wise and Minnie Toland.
He is survived by: his brothers, Earnest Boyd, James Williams and Larry Boyd; his wife Lucinda Bates Boyd; his children, Harriette Greenwood (Dennis) and Troy Bates (Melissa); his siblings, Vivian Hair (James) and Robert Boyd (Rosa) of Prosperity, SC; his grandchild Shenita Boyd; his great grandchild Shakeiva Boyd; his great great grandchild Gianni Carter; his godchildren, Pedro Wise and Shakira Aughtry; his cousin Sudie Mae Glasgow; and his siblings-in-law, Claude Bates (Lottie) and Barbara Bates. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
