He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Sims and Temple Wheeler Sims; his wife Helen DeWalt Sims; his great great grandchild Chosen Josiah Hammonds; and his siblings, Leroy Sims, Ruby Lee Jackson, Arthur Sims Jr. (June), Pauline Hunter, Cecil Sims, Elbert Sims (Sonny), Joseph Kreps, Elouise Davis and Anne Rebecca Drake.
He is survived by: his children, Annie Holmon, Rudolph and Stanley Bates (Brenda); his siblings, Cornell Sims and Irene Ellison (Theodore); his aunt Dorothy Mae Wheeler; and his grandchildren, Jowoy Holmon (Alicia), Lashawn Holmon, Lashonda Holmon, Hellen Holmon, Lashonda DeWalt (Joey), Lakeya DeWalt, Stella Williams and Mark Sims. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
