He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter P. Burris and Mary Burris Burris; his son Jerod Anthony Burris; and his brothers, Johnny Darrell Burris and Marvin E. Burris.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Thatcher Burris; his children, Tori Inkley of Cedar Grove, NJ, Kip Burris of Fort Benning, GA and Jeff Jones (Karen) of Rock Hill; his grandchildren, Zachary, Kiersten, Maddie, Kaleib and Kinsey; and his sister Kay Shephard of Rockingham, NC..
