He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Rue Sims and Virginia Lois Pressley Sims; his son Robert Thomas "Tommy" Sims; and his brothers, Curtis Sims and Frank Sims.
He is survived by: his wife Mary "Hazel" Thomas Sims; his daughter Cindy Weathers (Barry); his siblings, Linda Martin, Helen Storay, Betty Yeargin and Jimmy Ray Sims; his grandchildren, Amy Carmack (Cody) and Brandon Sims; and his great grandchild Cole Carmack.
