He was predeceased by: his parents, John R. Mathis and Kate Gillespie Ivey; his son Brian K. Mathis; and his sisters, Pattie M. Hedgepath and Ann M. Moore.
He is survived by: his wife Yvonne Miller Mathis; his daughter Donna Mills (Kevin) of Shellman Bluff, GA; and his nephew Jim Conrad. He is also survived by three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
