She was predeceased by: her mother Rosa Lee Williams Burch; and her husband Richard Carter. She is survived by: her sons, John Richard Carter, Jr. of Atlanta and Brian Lee Carter (Julie) of Fort Mill; and her grandchildren, Dylan, Alex, Addison and Hannah.
