He was predeceased by: his wife Bessie Maree Pridmore Smith; his parents, Garnett James and Ethel Russell Smith; and his sisters, Louise "Weezy" Osborne and Jeanette Alongi.
He is survived by: his daughters, Amy Smith Reynolds of Easley and Beth Smith Murphy of Mt. Pleasant; and his grandchildren, Amanda Maree Reynolds, James Allen Reynolds, Katherine Elizabeth Murphy and Margaret Summey Murphy.
