He was predeceased by: his parents, John Mark and Nettie Allison McClain. He is survived by: his wife Edith Vera Turner McClain; his sons, Billy Joe McClain (Tammy) of Piedmont and Randall Allen McClain of Piedmont; and his siblings, Brenda McClellan of Powdersville, Juanita Mills of Georgia and Rev. Jimmy "Champ" McClain of Greer. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren.
