She was predeceased by: her parents, Andrew Steele and Agatha Mae Patten Thurston. She is survived by: her sons, Ronald Allen "Ronnie" McClain of Piedmont, Steele McCarty of Pelzer and Jonathan Thurston of Piedmont; her close friend Paul Bolsby; and her siblings, Anthony Thurston of Pelzer and Annette McCarty of Pelzer.
