He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilma C. Gillespie and Garth S. Gillespie. He is survived by: his children, William Brian Gillespie of Pickens, David Alan Gillespie (Lanai) of Sunset, Andrew Charles Gillespie (Kelly) of Simpsonville and Amy Kristen Quinn (Paul) of Easley; his siblings, Linda Wortman, Johnny Gillespie, Sandra Gillespie (Barry), Joan Williams (Mark), Robbie Gillespie, Roger Gillespie (Linda), Kenny Gillespie, Lisa Lewis (Mark) and Jeff Gillespie; his grandchildren, Justin, Bradley, Hannah, Kareem, Gabriel, Nick, Coty, Wesley and Aiden; and his great grandchild Atticus.

In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Unity And Love Worship Center in Walhalla, SC, David's home church. His daughter will be handling the donations.
