He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Van and Tempie Marie Woodson Whitmire; and his brothers, Lawrence G. Whitmire and Harrel Whitmire. He is survived by: his wife Martha Ann Mullikin Whitmire; his children, Pamela Ann Whitmire (Mark Deniger) and Jay Whitmire (Robin); and his grandson Joseph Bryant (Courtney).
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Sullivan-King Mortuary (3205 N Hwy 81, Anderson, SC 29621). A graveside service was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the SIX & Twenty Baptist Church Cemetery (3701 6 and 20 Rd, Pendleton, SC 29670).
