He was predeceased by: his parents, Jimmy G. Smith and Alma McCarary Smith; his siblings, J. Harold Smith, Oddsia Smith, Jesse Lee Smith, Bobby Lee Smith, William Authur Smith, Barbara Ann Chancellor and Alma Jean Richardson; and his granddaughter Apreshia Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Troy D. Smith, Melissa J. Smith, Brian D. Smith, Karen L. Smith, Timothy Jamison and Courte Ellis; his close friend Hazel Lovelist; and his siblings, Edna Mae Smith, Bertha M. Patterson, Patricia Ballentine and Jimmy Smith, Jr.. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
