She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph Ligon and Sara Jenkins King; and her brother Leland King. She is survived by: her husband William "Sam" Coates, Jr.; her children, William "Sam" Coates, III (Lucy) of Greenville, Joy Saylor (Charlie) of Simpsonville and Lee Coates (Kimberly) of Greenville; and her brother Ligon King. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
