He was predeceased by: his parents, John Stephens and Nell Sue Campbell Estes; his son James Stevens Estes, Jr.; his sister Judy Caughman; his granddaughter Amy May; his brother-in-law Don Garrett; and his nephews, Kirk Godfrey and Darby Garrett.
He is survived by: his spouse Jean Godfrey Estes; his daughter Michelle Estes Lester (Chris) of Pelzer; his daughter-in-law Laurie Estes of Piedmont; his brother Tom Estes (Elaine) of Greenville; his grandchildren, Justin Lester and Morgan Estes; and his close friends, Scott and Sonya Harris. He is also survived by one great-grandchild; two great-great-grandchildren.
