He was predeceased by: his parents, Harlin Cecil Oakes and Irene Evelyn Dickson Caswell; his daughter-in-law June Oakes; and his brother Cecil H. Oakes, Jr.. He is survived by: his sons, Harry D. Oakes of Piedmont, Paul A. Oakes of Pelzer and Jeffrey A. Oakes (Rocio) of Alexandria, VA; his granddaughters, Christine Oakes and Miranda Bridges; his great grandchildren, Oliver, Delilah, Keisen and Kei'Leigh; and his brother Jimmy Oakes of Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E. Calhoun St., Anderson, SC 29621.
