He is survived by: his mother Mattie Louise Elrod; his children, Alex Thurmond, Ariel Thurmond, Danielle Thurmond and Jordan Thurmond; his brothers, Van Thurmond and Richard Thurmond; and his close friends, Greg Johnson, Kiki Shaw and Rogelia Gomez. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins.
