He was predeceased by: his sons, Walter Garth Jr and Michael Davis; and his brothers, Max, Maurice, Lowry and Joe.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Priscilla Davis Holmes; his daughter Patsy Holmes; his granddaughter Stokes Holmes of Savannah; and his sisters, Carol Grubbs of Simpsonville and Lou Mouchet of Charlotte.
