It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Simmons James Richard Sr. in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, who passed away on June 17, 2020, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Foxworth Simmons and Annie Mae Williams Simmons. He is survived by: his wife Jo Anne Galloway of Florence; his children, Julie Carol Simmons (Scott Lawrence) of Murrells Inlet and James Richard Simmons Jr. (Sue Scaife Simmons) of Pawleys Island; his grandchildren, Christopher Cord Simmons of Pawleys Island and Nina Courtenay Simmons Herndon (Matthew Glover Herndon) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.; and his siblings, Tom Simmons (Rudolph) of Wildwood, Florida and Annette Taylor of Goldsboro. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be sent to Saint Frances Animal Shelter, 125 Ridge Street, Georgetown SC, 29440.
