He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Gabriel and Sophie Gabriel; and his siblings, Leonard Gabriel, Ramona Wenner and Catherine Tizziani.

He is survived by: his wife Antoinette Tomeucci; his sons, Joseph Jr. (Mary Gabriel) of New Jersey, Thomas (Laura Gabriel) of Murrells Inlet, SC and Gary (Debbie Gabriel) of Murrells Inlet, SC; and his grandchildren, Diana, Sarah, Christina, Lauren and Samantha Gabriel.
