He was predeceased by: his former wife Miriam Vereen; his parents, Happy Vereen and Mullet Vereen; his siblings, Anne Vereen and Ralph "Bubby" Vereen (Grill) of Vereen's Bar; and his niece Rosa Vereen.
He is survived by: his wife Laurie Ritchie; his children, John Vereen III (Bailey Vereen), Justin "Scooter" Vereen (Justin Vereen), Julie Vereen, Jonathan of Vermont and Elizabeth-Parker of Vermont; and his stepson Walker Wood.
