It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Byron Keel (Pawleys Island, South Carolina), born in Clarksville, Tennessee, who passed away on April 20, 2018, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elliott Keel and Mary Lavady Keel; and his siblings, William Mitchell Keel (Inez), Nathan G. Keel, Elliott Keel, Jr. (Lovella), James Clayton Keel (Lillie Mae) and Lela Ree Dougan (William).
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Smith Keel; his children, Charles Byron "Chuck" Keel II of Pawleys Island, SC and Sheila R. Thaxton (Butch) of Clarksville; his sister Marlyn Smith (Leon) of Elberton, GA; his grandchildren, Paige Thaxton (Dewight), Chelsea Thaxton and Elliott Thaxton; and his sister-in-law Gayle Keel. He is also survived by two great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
