He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Ethel Tomlinson Tharp and Chonnie Bonner Tharp; his wife Marlyn Jo Tharp; his son Tracy Tomlinson Tharp; and his brother Thomas Eason Tharp.
He is survived by: his sons, J. Gregory Tharp (Laura) of Pawleys Island, SC and Marc Bonner Tharp of Fort Pierce, FL.; his grandchildren, Jeff Tharp (Laura), Bryan Tharp (Anna-Marie), Kaelyn Tharp Warden (Daniel), Ashley Tharp and Courtney Tharp; his great grandchildren, Fisher Tharp, Audrey Tharp, Emily Tharp and Sonny Tharp; and his sisters-in-law, Janet (Swymer), Jacquelyn (Vaughn) and McCants (late Jimmy McCants). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home & Crematory (222 St James St, Georgetown, SC 29440). A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church (901 Highmarket St, Georgetown, SC 29440).
