He was predeceased by: his parent Glade Postell; and his siblings, Glade Taylor, Glenda and Gleda. He is survived by: his wife Gail; his children, Gary Hall II (Shelby), Glenn Hall (Joanna), Gwen Hall (Aaron) and Gracey Sanders; his sister Gloria Nicholls; his grandchildren, Garron, Gina, Andrew, Christian and David; and his close friends, Dr. Edward, Sharon Donovan, Rick Haslett, Dr. Randy, Judy Petit, Jesse White and Kay Hamilton.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church (1399 Walnut Grove Rd, Roebuck, SC 29376).

His awards and accomplishments included, NASA NITARP and Solar System Ambassador Master Teacher, National Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science (1995), National Educator Award Milken Family Foundation (1996 - 1997).
