She was predeceased by: her parents, Emma Kimbrell and Clyde Kimbrell; her husband James; her children, Jimmy K. Gates, Kathy A. Gates and Tammy L. Gates; and her siblings, Larry Kimbrell and Joyce Belcher.
She is survived by: her daughter April Smith (James) of Spartanburg; her brothers, Donald Kimbrell of Spartanburg and Billy Kimbrell of Pacolet; her grandchildren, Anna Groce and Brandon James Smith of Spartanburg; and her daughter-in-law Jeannie Gates of Spartanburg. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
