She was predeceased by: her parents, Newton "Pete" Burke and Clay Champy Burke; and her former husbands, Al M. Hughes, Arthur McIva "Mac" Dennis and Henry Milford Vaughn.
She is survived by: her children, Sheryl Hughes Manning of Columbia, Al M. Hughes, Jr. of Orangeburg, Tracey B. Hughes (Jami) of Orangeburg and Benjamin C. Hughes of Orangeburg; her sister Janie Ackerman of Orangeburg; her grandchildren, Candace Green of Greer, Nicole Aston (Matt) of Atlanta, Kyle Hughes (Jillian) of Charleston, Maggie Brownlee (Justin) of Summerville, Katelin Hughes (Chris) of Charleston and Al Thomas Hughes of Summerville; her niece April Edwards (Hal) of Creston; and her daughter-in-law Kathryn Wienges of St. Matthews. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
