It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gertrude Brant Thompson of Orangeburg, South Carolina, who passed away on May 8, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Bertie A. Brant and Lillie Mills Brant; her husband Marion Daniel Thompson; and her siblings, Eugene Brant, Fred Brant, John Henry Brant of George Brant, B. L., James Brant, William "Ed" Brant and Gloria Chapline.
She is survived by: her close friend Fred Foster; her children, Barbara Rutland (Ernie) of Orangeburg and Jerry Lee Thompson (Julie Purcell) of Leesville; her granddaughters, Heather Thompson, Ashley Thompson and Nicole Rutland Williams (Kyle); her great grandchildren, Haylee, Hunter, Hope Thompson, Mills and Bates Williams; her siblings, Roger Brant (Mary), Betty Carson and Mary Cunio; and her sisters-in-law, Devone Brant and Ann Thompson Cumbee. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and special friends.
