He was predeceased by: his parents, McNeil Hardy and Millie Hardy; his wife Lula Mae Goodman Hardy; his siblings, O'Neal Hardy and Louize McFadden; and his son-in-law Karl S. Scott.
He is survived by: his children, Willie Mae Graham (Jeffery) of Effingham, SC, Dorothy Scott of Lynchburg, SC, Roosevelt Hardy, Jr. of Lynchburg, SC, MacArthur Hardy of Lynchburg, SC, Mary Hardy of Lynchburg, SC and Eva Hardy of Lynchburg, SC; his sister Rena Bell Wilder; and his siblings-in-law, Sylvia Juanita Goodman and Tommie Goodman. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren.
