She was predeceased by: her parents, Cicero James Avant and Ada Elizabeth Long Avant; her daughter Janice Elizabeth Thomas; and her siblings, James Alfred Avant, Holland Avant, Bud Avant, Amon Avant and Lois Carver.

She is survived by: her husband John Wallace Thomas Sr. of Lake City; her children, Patricia Elaine Thomas Riatti of Dallas, TX and John Wallace Thomas Jr. of Lake City, SC; her grandchildren, Hannah Rose Thomas, William Grayson Riatti, John Wallace Thomas III, Peer Thomas Riatti and Annabella Elizabeth Riatti; and her siblings, Glenda Avant Gordon of Timmonsville, Martha Avant Cook of Anchorage, AK and William Herman Avant of Athens, GA..
