He was predeceased by: his father John William Welch; and his brother Johnny Lamar Welch. He is survived by: his mother Juanita Brown Welch; his stepfather Chesley Thigpen; his siblings, Rodney Dean Welch of Lake City and Renea Welch Carter of Turbeville; and his nieces and nephews, Johnny Lamar Welch, Jr., Joshua Hunter Welch, Claudia Elizabeth Coulter and Erin Danielle Pfeiffer.
