She was predeceased by: her parents, W. J. Ellis and Ivy Ellis (Langford); her husband Col. Curtis L. Smart; and her grandchildren, Donald T. Knowles, Jr. and Kimberly A. Knowles.
She is survived by: her daughters, Ann (Ronnie Nettles), Patricia (Calvin Bryan) and Victoria (Roy Pryor); and her grandchildren, Kellie Chapman (Eric), Jared Bryan (Trish), Josh Cleveland (Lauren), Lee Pryor (Sarah) and Luke Cleveland (Rodney). She is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Epworth Children's Home, Columbia, SC.
