She was predeceased by: her parents, D. Joseph Bransfield and Marie Bransfield (Schneider); her former husband James R. Hammersla; and her son Steven C. Hammersla. She is survived by: her husband Ralph Edward Carter; her son Damon J. Hammersla (Gina) of Parkton, MD; her grandchildren, Kara Hammersla of Baltimore, MD, Amanda Hammersla of Washington, D. C. and Carter Hammersla of Baltimore, MD; and her sister Jean Savage of Tampa, FL..
