He was predeceased by : his parents, Johnny Fred Thompson, Sr. and Patricia Thompson (Forrester); and his former life partner Kim Cupka Thompson. He is survived by : his wife Wendy Koehler; his children, Darcy Anderson (Jordan) and Tommy Thompson; and his brother Jeff Thompson (Donna).

A memorial service was held on Friday, June 28th 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home (4541 Savannah Hwy, North, SC 29112).
