He was predeceased by: his parents, Olin Stanfield and Laurabell Johnson Gardner; his former wife Betty J. Lanier Howe; his wife Gloria Gardner; his brother Ray Gardner; and his nephew Tim Gardner.
He is survived by: his children, Kaye Eucare (Val) and Bert Gardner of Wallace, SC; and his sister Carol Ann Smith of Hamlet.
