He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Deacon Ransom and Annie Sumpter Addison; his wife Elizabeth Black; his children, Nyocka Addison (Dennis Nicholson), Hiawatha Addison Armstead (Royland), Jacqueline Addison Lightbourne (Derrick) and Nakia Addison (Karine Nunes); his grandchildren, Demetrius, Aisha, Royland, Easton and Mia Addison; and his siblings, Mattie A. Gethers and Beaufort Addison (Margaret). He was also cherished by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and other family members and friends.

Mr. Addison was a great man, who provided care, concern, support for all the students and educators in the Charleston County School District, and especially the students at the Military Magnet Academy. He was always at the MMA doing whatever was needed to ensure the students were successfully academically, culturally, and physically. He was friend and mentor and I will miss him. A. Townsend,”
