He was predeceased by: his parents, James Sr. Whitt and Edna Oneta Slatten Whitt; and his brother James Whitt Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Gwendolyn Patrone Whitt; his son Jonathan "Jay" James Whitt (Kathleen Whitt); his daughter-in-law Sophia Grace Whitt; his grandson Braxton Waldrop; and his pet Candy Cane.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Grace United Methodist Church (639 Georgia Ave, North Augusta, SC 29841). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
