She was predeceased by: her parents, Baxter Byrd and Elizabeth Harmon Byrd; her sons, George Mitchell, Jr. and Griffin Mitchell, III; and her grandsons, Lamont Mitchell, Jr. and Joshua Gary.
She is survived by: her children, Elizabeth L. Carter, Susie M. Mance, Ann Shokpeka, Darphaus L. Mitchell, Sr., Jimmie G. Mitchell and Darren Mitchell; and her grandchildren, Shirdara Battle, Monturius Mitchell, Camille Ferguson, Griffin Mitchell, IV, Marcus Carter, Priestly Mance, III, Yurissa Niman, Demetrius Mitchell, Tyberious Mitchell, Shaneka Summers, Derand Summer and Patrick Shokpeka. She is also survived by 50 great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel (601 South St, Newberry, SC 29108).
