He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillie Crump Mayes and Willis Mayes, Jr.; and his siblings, Larry and Sarah. He is survived by: his siblings, Willis Mayes, III, Porterfield Mayes (Norma), Debra Mayes-Gamble, Shirley Johnson (Charlie) and Delores Pitts (Leonard). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and a wide circle of friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 28th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Wilson Funeral Home (64 Boundary St, Newberry, SC 29108). A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 29th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the Belmont Baptist Church (301 State Rd S-36-321, Silverstreet, SC 29145).
