He is survived by: his wife Vernette Hailstock Abrams; his children, Roderick LaWayne Abrams of Gastonia, NC, Khuma Kotti Abrams and Rasheda Nicole Abrams of Newberry, SC; his siblings, James Abrams of Newberry, SC, Russell Abrams of Newberry, SC, Reco Abrams, Sr. of Newberry, SC, Annie Pearl Adams of Moreno Valley, Mary Akinkoutu of Knightdale, NC and Barbara Nance of Newberry, SC; his grandchildren, Khalia Abrams, Tion Abrams of Newberry, SC, Azayon Sims of Winston Salem, NC, Keana Abrams of Gastonia, NC and Santana Whitman of Newberry, SC; his great grandchild Kensley Stevens of Newberry, SC; his siblings-in-law, Thelma Hailstock of Winston-Salem, NC, Jacquelyn Robinson, Beverly Brown of Newberry, SC and Eddie Haile of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his nephew Roderic Robinson of Newberry, SC; his niece Kimberley Brown of Newberry, SC; his goddaughter Cincere Geralds of Chester, SC; and his friend Patsy Workman of Newberry, SC. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, November 10th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel (601 South St, Newberry, SC 29108). The military honors was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery (4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229).
